Women’s Crew off to a great start

The women’s crew team opened their spring season by hosting the Daffodil Sprints and racing hard against DI, DII and other DIII schools on March 28 at American Lake. The Puget Sound women’s crew team held a strong presence in the race, but couldn’t capture a win against some of the schools in higher divisions. However, the Loggers still walked away with impressive times. The Loggers’ first women’s varsity eight team competed in the 2K race and took third place behind Western Washington University and Humbolt State with a time...

The battle of I5

The “Battle of I-5” is a common reference to a few sports rivalries on the West Coast but none is more intense than the rivalry between the Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders. For those who are not familiar with the “Battle of I-5,” it received its name, as both Seattle and Portland are major stops on the Interstate-5 freeway. Of all the rivalries along the freeway down the years, none has lasted longer than the one between the Sounders and the Timbers. The rivalry currently spans four different soccer...

March madness

There I sit, on the couch cursing at the television screen with my crumpled up bracket in the trash bin. And despite all the frustration that is collectively felt across the nation, I am happy because it is March Madness. March Madness, the annual NCAA Division I basketball tournament, is the greatest sporting event of the year. 68 teams from universities across the nation compete in a single elimination tournament over the entire month of March. It is a time of year where casual and serious fans of college basketball...

Softball does well in Arizona

During a long spring break in Tuscon, Ariz., the Logger softball team played two games on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in The Grand Canyon State.
