The battle of I5

The “Battle of I-5” is a common reference to a few sports rivalries on the West Coast but none is more intense than the rivalry between the Portland Timbers and the Seattle Sounders. For those who are not familiar with the “Battle of I-5,” it received its name, as both Seattle and Portland are major stops on the Interstate-5 freeway. Of all the rivalries along the freeway down the years, none has lasted longer than the one between the Sounders and the Timbers. The rivalry currently spans four different soccer...

Softball does well in Arizona

During a long spring break in Tuscon, Ariz., the Logger softball team played two games on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in The Grand Canyon State. First the Loggers took on the Eagles from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. The Eagles sprinted out to an early lead, earning four runs in a little over two innings. Kayla Andrus (Kent, Wash.) was first on base for the Logger comeback with a single straight out to right field. Amber Popovich (Miliani, Hawaii) propelled Andrus into scoring position with a sacrificial bunt....

Another week, another NFL controversy: An op-ed on the Adrian Peterson child abuse scandal

Adrian Peterson is the first in a long line of players who may fall victim to the new policies surrounding the suspension of NFL player Ray Rice. Peterson was convicted a mere four days after Roger Goodell, the commissioner of the NFL, issued a letter to the NFL owners stating the terms of the new, more severe, Personal Conduct Policy. “I am not a perfect son. I am not a perfect husband. I am not a perfect parent, but I am, without a doubt, not a child abuser,”  Peterson said...
