Seattle sanity rally sparked by pundits

Jim Baum, a farmer who owns land in King County in Washington, has called for a rally to be held at Westlake Park in Seattle on Oct. 30 at 9:00 a.m. It is called the “Rally to Restore Sanity” and has the same name and date of a similar rally being held in Washington D.C. This is not to say that everyone votes, or thinks voting is effective or worthwhile; on the contrary, a smaller and smaller proportion of the eligible population votes every election year, and that’s not just because more and more people are in prison. Coffeehouse Conversation

On Sept. 23, students gathered in Trimble Forum for an afternoon of intellectual discussion at a Coffeehouse Conversation with Professor Laurie Frankel.  At the event, which was co-sponsored by the Gender Studies and English departments, Frankel discussed publishing and her debut novel, The Atlas of Love.
