During a long spring break in Tuscon, Ariz., the Logger softball team played two games on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday in The Grand Canyon State. First the Loggers took on the Eagles from the University of Wisconsin at La Crosse. The Eagles sprinted out to an early lead, earning four runs in a little over two innings. Despite having only three races under their collective belts this semester, the men’s and women’s track and field teams have gotten off to a bright start in 2015. Allanah Whitehall (Seattle, Wash.) put her mark on Puget Sound history in the first event of the year by grabbing a record in the indoor 60-meter dash. She broke the previous school record that she set at 8.14 seconds with a time of 7.79 seconds in the University of Washington indoor preview on Saturday Jan. 17. The Logger swimming teams opened their season this year very well, sprinting out to a 4-0 lead in the Northwest Conference (NWC) with only one loss (which happened outside of conference play).  The Loggers won two meets on Nov. 14 and 15 at home against the Willamette Bearcats and the Linfield Wildcats. The Women’s squad started the weekend with a landslide against the Bearcats, winning the meet with a score of 144 to Willamette’s 60. The Logger basketball squads are kicking off their seasons soon, and there’s a whole lot to be excited about.  The ladies kick off their season on Friday, Nov. 7 in an exhibition at Seattle Pacific University, and the men are traveling to Eastern Washington University on Sunday Nov. 9 for their opener. The Logger football team won their second game of the season Saturday against Lewis and Clark College at home in Baker Stadium.  This win brings the team to a 2-1 record overall and an undefeated record this season at home. It didn’t take long for the Loggers to get going on Saturday. Adrian Peterson is the first in a long line of players who may fall victim to the new policies surrounding the suspension of NFL player Ray Rice.
