SAAC puts on “24 Hours for Special Olympics”

The Student Athlete Advisory Committee or SAAC as they are more commonly known is a committee made up of members from each NCAA sports team. SAAC committees are common throughout the Northwest Conference. Logger baseball looks to make jump to top of NWC ranks

The Puget Sound baseball team is coming off a great year. In their previous season the team went 12-12 in conference play and 19-21 in the whole season, many of the returners earned honors. Sophomore Matt Robinson (Lafayette, Calif.) earned second team honors as a freshman pitcher and Senior Dakota Resnik (Bellevue, Wash.), and juniors Casey Coberly (Boise, Id.), Matt Cox (Salem, Ore.), and Will Mentor (Seattle, Wash.) all earned Northwest Conference honorable mention last season. Track looks strong in early going

The Logger track team has been gearing up for their 2011 season  since their return to campus a week early from Christmas break. Their first meet was Saturday, Feb. 5 in Nampa, Idaho, where a couple of school records were broken. Junior Andrea Leiken (Portland, Ore.) broke her own school record in the 400 meter with 1:01.17. Swim teams continue to impress at Husky Invite

The Husky Invitational was held in Federal Way on Dec. 3. The Loggers performed exceptionally well with both the men and women placing third at the Invite. It was a great day for many of the swimmers, with goals met and records broken. Controversy surrounds choice of Qatar as host of 2022 World Cup

For the first time in history FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) chose Qatar, a small, oil-rich middle-eastern country, to host the 2022 World Cup. This is the first time that a Middle-Eastern country has been chosen to host this event, and it is the smallest country chosen since Uruguay in 1930. Qatar beat out Australia, Japan, South Korea and the United States. College football teams gearing up for BCS bowl season

Beyond Baker Stadium, the world of college football is coming to a close as the end of the season is fast approaching.  As of week 14, the teams standing in the number one and number two positions are at conflict. Cross Country finishes middle of the pack

University of Puget Sound’s cross country team had an average season.  They consistently placed in the middle of most of their meets and they weren’t able to meet their goal of finishing in the top half of the conference.  According to coach Mike Orechia, the reason the team had an average season is because “the men’s team was very young.  They made tremendous progress and we are excited about the future.  The women suffered from sickness at the wrong time of the year.” Despite these unfortunate set-backs there were some...
