Volleyball stays hot, stretches winning streak to 10 games

The Puget Sound volleyball team kept their impressive winning streak alive this past weekend at home, defeating the Linfield Wildcats on Friday and the Willamette Bearcats on Saturday. Not only did the two wins extend the team’s streak to 10 straight, but both came with ease as the Loggers swept both matches three sets to none. Records fall, but so does the Logger football team

The football team had a record -breaking weekend against Lewis and Clark, resulting in another heart breaking loss against the Pioneers. Junior Adam Kniffin (Salem, Ore) had a breakout game with a record-setting 19 catches and another record five touchdown receptions. This back and forth game also broke the record for total points in a game, with 132 points; total yards in a game, 650; and total passing yards in a game, in the 68-64 loss. Women’s soccer in familiar position atop Northwest Conference standings

The Varsity Women’s Soccer team improved to 13-1 Saturday Oct. 23. Their eighth consecutive win was earned with the Logger’s 1-0 victory over the Lewis and Clarke Pioneers. Women’s soccer exerts dominance

On Saturday, Oct. 9 the Lady Loggers defeated the Linfield Wildcats 3-1. What was a tied score for the majority of the match became a defeat for the Loggers in the final moments of the game. Despite an early Logger lead courtesy of senior Molly Winterrowd’s (Tigard, Ore.) goal in the 23rd minute, the Wildcats were able to tie the game up with a free kick in the 53rd minute. Women’s golf tees off in Olympia

Monday and Tuesday of this week, the Lady Loggers golf team played in their season-opening tournament. The St. Martins Invitational was in Olympia, Washington and featured both NAIA teams as well as Division II and III schools. Featured Athlete: Chris McDonald

A large contributor to the success of the men’s soccer team’s so far this year is sophomore goal keeper Chris McDonald. He has made 33 saves and has only been scored on nine times during the 12 games this year. McDonald is from Newton, Massachusetts and has been playing soccer since he was five years old. Football can’t keep up with Wildcats

The Homecoming Weekend festivities were spoiled on Saturday by the Linfield Wildcats. The Loggers suffered a 55-14 loss on the gridiron at the hands of the Wildcats, falling to 1-4 on the season and 1-2 in Northwest Conference play. Linfield posted an astonishing 591 total yards of offense, including 330 yards on the ground. Men’s soccer gets stuck in mud

The men’s soccer team traveled to Parkland, Washington on a rainy and wet Sunday Oct. 10 to play against the Pacific Lutheran Lutes.  This rivalry game ended up being the third loss this year for the men’s soccer team. Men’s soccer team faced off against the Northwest Conference leading Pacific Boxers. After a battle that lasted through regulation and two overtime periods, the two teams reached a scoreless draw. This proved that the men’s Logger team is capable of matching up competitively with just about any other team in its conference. The Lady Loggers were on the road yet again this weekend playing George Fox on Friday and Lewis and Clark on Saturday. The Loggers were able to defeat both teams, but the ends were reached with different means.
