The Lady Loggers were on the road yet again this weekend playing George Fox on Friday and Lewis and Clark on Saturday. The Loggers were able to defeat both teams, but the ends were reached with different means. The Chuck Bowles Invite this past weekend in Salem, Ore. proved to be a very successful outing for both the Logger men and women on the cross country course. The Puget Sound men took 19th overall in the invite, with an average time of 26:59.03. The men finished ahead of three Northwest Conference rivals at the large race, upending Pacific Lutheran, Pacific University, and George Fox who took 20th, 21st, and 22nd respectively. Tensions ran high on Saturday Oct. 2 as Puget Sounded hosted cross town rivals the Pacific Lutheran Lutes. The Loggers battled for victory and although the game ended in a loss, it is one for the record books. The stadium was at capacity. The Logger volleyball team took to the road over the previous weekend, winning matches against both the Linfield Wildcats and Willamette Bearcats in consecutive days. The team is improving, but perhaps even more noticeable has been the emergence of freshmen outside hitter Jackie Harvey (Santa Barbara, CA). In the first game against Linfield, Harvey led the team in kills with 12 while hitting an impressive .356 on the court. She also contributed defensively with 7 digs. The Logger women’s volleyball team played at Linfield College this Friday. They defeated the Linfield Wildcats 3-0, with scores of 25-23 in the first match, 25-12 in the second, and 25-20 in the third. The women’s soccer team spent this past weekend traveling to Spokane and Walla Walla, Wash. to continue Northwest Conference Play.  Sadly, the Loggers suffered their first loss at the hands of Whitworth Saturday Sept 25. The football team wasn’t the only team to go into overtime last weekend. The men’s soccer team had a tough match that ended in a tie against Whitworth.  The team had a 3 game winning streak going into the upcoming matches over the mountains.
