Soccer wins game, but loses out on tournament

Saturday, Nov. 3 was bittersweet for Puget Sound men’s soccer as the team said goodbye to four seniors during Senior Day at East Field.  However, they were given a stylish farewell in the form of a 2-0 win against Pacific Lutheran. The Loggers (12-3-5, 8-2-4 NWC) scored twice in the second half of the game and senior goalkeeper Chris McDonald (Newton, Mass.) saved two shots to preserve the shutout. Cross-country sees mixed results in race

Northwest Conference Championships took place Saturday, Oct. 27. The Puget Sound’s men’s cross-country team took third place while the women’s team took sixth. Senior Matt Klein (Portland Ore.) and freshman Justin Bigelow (Highland Ranch, Colo.) were all NWC performers for the men’s team with Klein placing third to lead the Loggers. The final home game for the Puget Sound football team was Saturday, Nov. 4 against Linfield. This was an especially important game for the seniors as they celebrated Senior Day. The Loggers fought hard on defense and offense to try to pull off their first win of the season, but it was not enough and the team lost the game 47-7. Swim team propels past Lewis and Clark

The Puget Sound swim teams had a pair of wins Saturday, Nov. 3. The wins came over conference rival Lewis and Clark at Wallace Pool. Junior Derek Frenzel (Moscow, Idaho), senior Aleksander Jeremikj (Skopje, Macedonia) and sophomore Melissa Norrish (Denver, Colo.) each brought in a pair of event wins in the dual meet. Frenzel swam an 8:52.79 in the 800 freestyle to win by an astounding 30 seconds over the second place competitor. Solid goalie play by McDonald key to Logger victories at home

The Puget Sound men’s soccer team beat George Fox Saturday, Oct. 27. The win was not the only thing to be excited about, as senior Chris McDonald (Newton, Mass.) made four saves and now has the most shut-outs in Puget Sound history. Juniors Andrew White (Steamboat Springs, Colo.) and Chris Shaw (Coeur d’Alene, Idaho) scored goals for the Loggers. McDonald produced his 31st shut-out of his career to claim the school record. Women’s soccer closing in on eleventh straight conference title

The Puget Sound women’s soccer team had an impressive weekend with two conference victories. The team faced off against cross-town rivals Pacific Lutheran on Wednesday, Oct. 24 and George Fox on Sunday, Oct. 28. Football loses sixth in a row to Whitworth

This past weekend proved to be costly for the Puget Sound Loggers as Whitworth forced six turnovers to hold onto a 70-11 win on Saturday Oct. 20 in Spokane, Wash.  The Loggers (0-6, 0-3 NWC) had five passes intercepted, including two that resulted in Whitworth touchdowns. According to Logger Athletics, the windy conditions in Spokane on Saturday resulted in a less-than-respectable Logger offense.
