New club seeks to raise awareness of violent oppression

Sarah Stillman, senior, is starting a chapter of the International Justice Mission (IJM) at the University called Loggers against Slavery and Trafficking. The IJM is a non-profit organization based out of Washington D.C. that provides legal and political advocacy to survivors of violent oppression in different countries around the world. The Puget Sound Chapter will join a larger campus movement of chapters from around the world that are helping to raise awareness of slavery and human trafficking. Junot Diaz charms crowd, inspires students

Popular author Junot Díaz came to speak at the University on Sept 17 in Schneebeck Concert Hall. Díaz is the author of two short story collections: Drown and This is How You Lose Her, a New York Times best-seller and National Book Award finalist.
