This past weekend proved to be costly for the Puget Sound Loggers as Whitworth forced six turnovers to hold onto a 70-11 win on Saturday Oct. 20 in Spokane, Wash.  The Loggers (0-6, 0-3 NWC) had five passes intercepted, including two that resulted in Whitworth touchdowns. According to Logger Athletics, the windy conditions in Spokane on Saturday resulted in a less-than-respectable Logger offense. Men’s basketball at Puget Sound, coming off of a successful 2011-2012 season, is looking to repeat their trip to the Northwest Conference finals and this time attempt to capture the title. It was a weekend of exciting games for the Puget Sound men’s soccer team. Their first game on Saturday, Oct. 21 was against Linfield, and their game on Sunday, Oct. 22 was against Willamette. The Puget Sound swim team had their first meet of the season when they traveled to Caldwell, Idaho to take on the College of Idaho Coyotes. Headed into their first meet of the season, the swim team wanted to start their season with a bang on Saturday, Oct. 7. They were able to do just that, thanks to a dominating performance that saw them win 16 of the 22 events in the competition. Women’s volleyball at Puget Sound has been having yet another successful season, maintaining their reputation as one of the top teams in the Northwest Conference and the number 10 ranking on the American Volleyball Coaches Association’s top 25 poll. The Puget Sound men’s golf team performed strongly during the first tournament of the season at the Whitman Invitational on Sept. 29 and 30. The Loggers finished second in the tournament, held at the Wine Valley Golf Course. Sophomore Adam Bean (Portland, Ore.) was 2-under for the tournament, leading the Loggers to a strong finish during their first outing of the season. The Puget Sound football team took to the field this weekend against the Pacific Boxers at Baker Stadium. It was a toughly fought game in the beginning, but the Boxers eventually took full control of the game in the third quarter and  carried the game with a 62-21 win over the Loggers. A fact unknown to many, it turns out that women’s soccer at Puget Sound is not the only dominant team on the soccer field. Men’s soccer (7-2-1, 4-1 NWC) has been making quite a stir this season.
