Track and field has strong meet in NWCs

The men’s and women’s track and field teams concluded the Northwest Conference Championships in Salem on April 27 to finish fifth and seventh, respectively. The two-day competition, which features all eight teams in the Northwest Conference, represents the finale for track and field’s conference schedule. Puget Sound totaled six athletes who were awarded on the All-NWC teams. Behind sophomore Adam Bean (Portland, Ore.) and junior Derek Wilson (Issaquah, Wash.) the men’s golf team placed third behind Whitworth and Linfield in the Northwest Conference Championship on April 21 in Woodburn, Ore. The red-hot Loggers continued their dominating season, steamrolling the Lutes from Pacific Lutheran on Friday, April 5 for their ninth consecutive win and improving to 12-3 overall and 6-3 in Northwest Conference competition. Softball’s losing streak reaches 27 over break

The Loggers Softball squad was unable to capture its first victory of the season as they lost all six contests during spring break. Puget Sound had a rough outing against Corban in both halves of its double-header on Wednesday, March 27. Track and field performs well at Pacific Lutheran Invitational

The second meet of the season for the Puget Sound track and field team took place at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational on March 9, which comprised of several Loggers posting qualifying marks. Freshman Elizabeth King (Portland, Ore.) led the women’s team by performing her best jump in pole-vaults this year, finishing second at 3.18 meters. After recording victories at Pacific and George Fox to start the 2013 season 2-0, the women’s tennis team fell short against the visiting Pirates from Whitworth, 6-3 on Friday, Feb. 22 at the Puget Sound tennis pavilion.
