Friday, Feb. 25th marks the opening of the first ASUPS election in history to not have any contested positions. (This is terrible! Imagine if John McCain ran for President in 2008 uncontested.) If you would like to run, it’s not too late! You’ll need to start an aggressive “write-in” campaign, and you can win the election if enough people write down your name. Here are five easy steps:
- Decide what position you would like to run for (i.e. “Gee, I’d like to be ASUPS President!”)
- Start a Facebook event/movement/revolution where you invite everyone at Puget Sound to vote for you. Remind them that they can write down your name in the “write-in” blank space on the ballot. There will be voting stations in the S.U.B for the next few days, and you can also vote through the ASUPS web site.
- Email our current ASUPS Vice President Alex Lewis (asupsvp@pugetsound.edu) and let him know if you would like any nickname of yours to count. (You can only be elected if your voters spell your name correctly, or if you gave Alex a list of possible nicknames.)
- Make some posters and put them up everywhere!!
- Don’t forget to vote for yourself! Every vote counts!
Sound easy? It is! And it will make our school a better place if we have some healthy competition. So get out there and campaign. You’ve got five days, and it’s not too late!
