Every semester, throngs of University students flock to Silas High School to watch one of the most anticipated events of the year: a performance by the popular Repertory Dance Group (RDG). As the largest student club on campus, RDG offers everyone a chance to express themselves through dance regardless of their level of experience. RDG President Devon Ashburn (‘25) highlighted the value of RDG. “RDG is so important to our campus because dance brings a unique kind of community that you can’t find anywhere else. It brings people of all different walks of campus life, who may never have met otherwise, together in a shared moment,” she said. This semester’s performances on April 18 and 19 brought the same chair-shaking music and masterful choreography that audiences have come to expect from the group. It was also one of the longer RDG performances in recent memory, to the delight of the audience. Recent shows have had 15-18 numbers, while this year featured 22. Ashburn pointed to the amount of talent this year. “We had an unprecedented number of choreographers audition to have their pieces in the show and we couldn’t bear to cut a single dance more than we had to,” she said.
