The Puget Sound Women’s Cross-Country team traveled to Claremont, Calif. to compete at the NCAA West Region meet on Saturday, Nov. 12. One of the largest sports clubs on the Puget Sound campus is rugby. Within the last few years the club has become a large presence on campus, causing a rise in the club’s membership. The club has many new members, the majority of whom have never played rugby before, but still managed to win numerous games during their season this year. The Women's Soccer team concluded their regular season  in  games  against the George Fox Bruins on Friday, Nov. 4 and the Willamette Bearcats on Satuday, Nov. 5. The Loggers lost on Friday to the Bruins in a 3-1 set, but were able to win their last season game on Saturday and beat Willamette 3-0. The University of Puget Sound’s Women’s Soccer team had an outstanding weekend. Not only did they win both of their games on Friday, Nov. 4 against Lewis and Clark and Saturday, Nov. 5 against Pacific, but they also made their mark in Logger history. As match-ups go, the Women’s Basketball team is never afraid to go against a worthy opponent. In their last exhibition game, the Loggers faced Seattle University, a newly minted Division I school. Junior Carrie Keith (Erie, Colo.) finished first out of the Loggers’ Cross Country team, and 15th overall in last week’s Northwest Conference Championship. The Loggers persevered through an offensive and defensive battle on Saturday, Nov. 5 and ended their season with a 1-0 upset against the No. 19 Pacific Lutheran Lutes.  Assisted by sophomore Landon Gauthier (Fox Island, Wash.), sophomore Colin McIntosh (Olympia, Wash.) found the back of the net early in the game. Last year in a post-season heartbreaker, the Loggers ended their basketball season in the semi-final round of the conference playoffs. The Loggers completed their series of home games over Fall Break on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16.  Sadly, the Logger’s dropped both matches, losing to Whitman and Whitworth respectively. On Wednesday, Oct. 19 and Friday Oct. 21, Puget Sound fans filled Memorial Fieldhouse to support the Puget Sound volleyball team during their last week of home games. Wednesday night the volleyball team faced off against cross-town rivals Pacific Lutheran, and on Friday for senior night they played against Pacific University. The women’s soccer team fought a defensive battle against Linfield and came out on top with a 1-0 lead on Saturday, Oct, 22.  There were only seven shots taken between the two teams, but senior Abby Goss (Spokane, Wash.) managed to find an opportunity during the 75th minute and score the only goal of the match. The Puget Sound football team mounted an unexpected comeback in the fourth quarter against the Lewis & Clark Pioneers but ultimately came up a bit short, losing 31-28.
